Report of Earth Day 2025 organised by BSI EIACP PC-RP & CNH, BSI
On April 22, 2025, the EIACP PC-RP on Biodiversity (Flora), Botanical Survey of India, in collaboration with the Central National Herbarium (CNH), BSI, Howrah, celebrated ‘Earth Day 2025’ at the V. Mudgal Auditorium, CNH. This year’s theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” emphasizes the urgent need for clean, renewable energy and collective environmental action.
The event began with an inaugural address by Dr. Kanad Das, Scientist ‘F’ & HoO, CNH, and Dr. J.S. Jalal, Scientist ‘E’, BSI Hqrs. & EIACP Coordinator, highlighting the importance of Earth Day. Dr. Santanu Das, Biotechnologist & Environmentalist from Seshadripuram First Grade College, Bangalore, delivered a talk on waste management, stressing the threats posed by pollution, plastic waste, and deforestation.
