Report on One day Workshop on
‘Herbarium Methodology of Higher Plants’
A one day Workshop on ‘Herbarium Methodology of Higher Plants was organised jointly by the EIACP Programme Centre-Resource Partner on Biodiversity (Flora), Botanical Survey of India and Central National Herbarium, Howrah on 23rd January 2025 at CNH Auditorium, B. Garden, Howrah. The workshop programme was inaugurated by Ms. Lipika Roy, Deputy Director, Economic Division, MoEF&CC, New Delhi, Dr. A.A. Mao, Director, BSI in presence of Dr. Kanad Das, Scientist ‘F’ & HOO, CNH and Dr. J.S. Jalal, Scientist ‘E’ & In-charge, BSI EIACP PC RP, BSI and Mr. Rahul Bhatia, Research Officer, EIACP Cell, MoEF&CC, New Delhi. Total 90 PG students of Bethune College, Budge Budge Collge, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Govt. College, Gurudas College, Scottish Church College of Kolkata Kharagpur College of Paschim Medinipore, Bijoy Krishna Girls’ College, Narasinha Dutt Collge of Howrah, Raja Peary Mohan College, Serampore College of Hooghly and 4 students from Murshidabad University were participated in this workshop.
After the tea break the session started with a brief lecture on Herbarium Methodology was delivered by Dr. Shyam Biswa, Bot. Asst., CNH, BSI. After this lecture students divided in two groups for hands on training on herbarium methodology which was given by Dr. Anand Kumar, Botanist, CNH, BSI, Dr. Shyam Biswa & Mr. Arka Banerjee, Sr. Pres. Asst., CNH, BSI, Mr. Sudipta Sardar, Bot. Asst., CNH, BSI, Mr. Ashish Kumar Bot. Asst., CNH, BSI & Mr. Tanay Shil, Sr. Pres. Asst., CNH, BSI. After the lunch these two group of students visit different Herbarium Halls of CNH, Type Section and also visit Digital Herbarium.
