Report EIACP Eastern Zone Regional Evaluation Workshop of EIACP Programme Centres and Hubs
EIACP Eastern Zone Regional Evaluation Workshop for performance assessment and grading of EIACP Programme Centres was held on 21st September, 2023 (Thursday) at Raipur, Chhattisgarh and this evaluation workshop organisedby Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board (CECB), Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The Eastern Zone Evaluation Workshop was attended by nine (9) EIACP PC RP/Hubs, namely: Asian Development Research Institute (ADRl), Patna, Bihar; Bihar State Pollution Control Board (BSPCB), Patna, Bihar; Botanical Survey of India (BSI), Kolkata, West Bengal; Centre for Mining Environment (CME) lIT– Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, Jharkhand; Department of Environmental Sciences- Kalyani University (DESKU), Nadia, West Bengal; Forests & Environment Department, Govt. of Jharkhand; Centre for Environmental Studies (CES), Forest & Environment Department, Government of Odisha, Bhubaneshwar, Odisha; and Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), Kolkata, West Bengal. During this evaluation workshop two BSI EIACP PC-RP publications i.e. ‘Bibliography and Abstracts of Papers on Flora of Gujarat and ‘BSI EIACP Newsletter 28(1) 2023 were released by Dr. Unmana Sarangi, Joint Director, MoEF&CC, New Delhi in presence of Dr. A.N. Shukla, Scientist ‘E’, MoEF&CC, New Delhi and other external experts. After this inaugural programme, the evaluation of each EIACP CP RP/Hubs was started. The evaluation workshop was attended by Dr. Jeewan Singh Jalal, Scientist "E," Hqrs., BSI & Coordinator, BSI EIACP PC-RP, and Dr. Soumen Gantait, Programme Officer of BSI EIACP PC-RP. Dr. Jalal delivered a power point presentation regarding the activities of BSI EIACP PC-RP on Biodiversity (Flora) during the financial year 2019-2020, 2020-2021, 2021-2022, 2022-2023 & 2023-2024 (upto 16th September 2023). After the presentation, the expert members appreciated the progress work done by BSI EIACP PC-RP and also suggested to do more work towards outreach community programs. We express our gratitude to the Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board (CECB) team, especially to Shri Nitin, the programme officer, and Shri A.P. Savant, the coordinator of the EIACP, for organising this evaluation workshop in a very systematic manner.
